Game 10, 18 June 2011 - Vipers v Koalas

Another good game from the Vipers saw them get up for a 3-1 win against a tough bunch of Koalas. This was the best passing game of the year for the Vipers. Ben made some great runs on the right wing and finished with good passes up to Luke and Nick up front. Archie at the back was solid as a rock and did not let anyone past him – but when he took the ball was calm and controlled and looked for good passes.

Jesse was super in goals and acted as an extra sweeper by coming out of his box on a number of occasions to start some attacks at the other end. Archie and Jesse communicated well to ensure they did not both go for the same ball. Dylan held his left back position well and through some hard running was able to get a great goal past the keeper with a good shot. Nick as always was alert in front of goal and scored two good goals as a result of good build up play. A long long throw in from Ben saw Nick running in on goal and then later a power shot was dropped by the keeper and Nick pounced. Holding his up position and running into good gaps won Nick the man of the match award.

Luke did everything he could to kick a goal and came close a number of times. Jeremy showed some of his best dribbling and was very athletic making some great runs through the middle and was unlucky not to score a couple of goals.

Now that the Vipers are passing so well – this week at training we are going to work on trapping the ball and then getting ready for a pass, dribble or shot. Had we trapped better I think the score today would have been 7-1.

A great game for the Vipers who are getting better every week.
